Default Another casuality.....01R#0222 taken out tonight.

My boy Sean may have lost his beloved NBP ITR tonight. He was driving his girlfriend home, got cut off by a minivan merging onto traffic. He was able to avoid oncoming traffic but ended up on the curb and smacked the driver's side up pretty hard. There may be frame damage, but he doesn't know yet. He's in total shock. Car was less than a year old. His first car, a 99 Si was less than a year old too when it became a victim of theft. Poor guy...... The minivan kept going.

******* Masshole drivers

that sucks. the best thing to do in situations where people drive into your lane is to brake. if not, just hit them. it won't be your fault. switch lanes *only* if you're certain there isn't another car there... lot of times people ended up worse than if they just ran into the bastards.

sorry to say but most people don't have enough practice to do fast emergency lane changes...

I'm very sorry to hear that.

I agree... When I had my first brand new car years ago. I was trying to baby it, engine, brakes and the like. And I had a minor fender bender because I didn't brake hard enough and that ruined the day for me. After that, I baby cars no more. The ITR brakes are phenomenal at stopping--as good as some BMW's and Porsches, and avoiding most anything if your expect things to dodge out of every alley. The Type-R's steering ratio is quicker than most cars, so in a panic situation, you can steer yourself into trouble unless you use the brakes at the same time.

Hey Jeff...Sorry to hear. Hope your friends ok. Keep up informed if it ends up to be fixable and back in action. Hope it all works out...

I hear ya...I get a lot of crazy minivan drivers on my way up 93 to my gf's place. They are usually driving in the 90's and not really paying attention to anyone else.

Yeah, that was him. He was planning to do some type of sus next year along with a 98R nose. Damn. And I pretty much converted him into a J-spec Honda snob too. Hopefully, it's not as bad as it seems. I wonder if he can bring it to that bodyshop across from Honda of Boston in Everett for a damage check and seeing whether or not it's savageable. I heard they do a lot of Integras. Either that or hopefully that Mugen powered 98 ITR is up still for grabs.

Damn. I loved that car. It was my first R experience.

(geez, I can't believe I'm so worked up over this.) Glad Sean's ok

I hear that on the MassHole Driver Note.

I just moved to MA from NY ...

Two things ....

1) 4, 5, 6, 6, and 8, exit Rotaries?... wtf ... can't MA put in some 4-way intersections like normal people? What is this .. the UK?

2) ... MA would rather have 10,000 fatalities, and pay billions in car related accidents, than put in a traffic light... because it would "disrupt the quaint villages"

at least that's my take on it ... other than that ... people drive like robots out here.

Sorry ..just my opinion

Thats terrible bro---tell your friend I am sorry to hear that.

I hated the kind of driver I became while living in Mass just to survive--I'm just happy that the process was revesible when I moved back home.

You know I agree with what you said, but to an extent. I will not argue with an 18 Wheeler or any of his type of vehicles. I got into an argument with my mother about that one time. She was like, "Just stay in your lane, if he hits you, he hits you." I swerved anyways. I'd rather swerved and hit the wall or another car and let it be my fault than go under an 18 wheeler. But that's just me of course.

Glad to hear your buddy is ok, because you can replace a car but not a person.

Sort of..we're in New England right? hehehe....

I've pretty much mastered rotaries around here.. I think the key is to go through them fast and when there is another car around, anticipate they will hit you or cut you off. I don't let other drivers bother me as much anymore... you just have to be a more aggressive driver. But once in a while, if someone does something really stupid, I wail on the horn ...

When it comes to 18 wheelers, im either in front of them or behind them. I will not drive next to an 18 wheeler, I don't trust them. When I come up to one on the highway ill wait till all other cars have passed it then gun it past it, no slow passing those guys.

In front or behind NEVER beside.

As for minivans, I would have to say the leading cause of soccor mom minivan accidents is mcdonalds.

Oh my god, that was about the scariest thing I've seen all day. My R is number 222, but it's 2000. That scared the **** out of me, like I was in a dream or something. Well, I'm very sorry for the driver, seems like everybody i know are getting into accidents. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed. My apologies again.

I might see the car tommorrow, but right now from what he told me it doesn't look too good. The driver's side was wacked pretty bad and the frame is bent. The hood doesn't sit flat anymore. He wants it written it off. Even if the car can be straightened out, it will never be the same. But good news is that he's thinking about gutting it and stuffing everything into a Civic hatchback.
