How bad would it look?
Not necessarily integra related, but I am going to break the rules because I think some of you might have the experience to know.
I am installing a wings west urethane body kit. The body color is red, urethane is black.
Now, I am planning on getting the car painted electron blue at some point (next year) but I want to put the kit on the car anyways. Yes, I am a riceboy apparently.
Now, I bought some urethane/adhesive cleaner and I am cleaning up/sanding the finish of the kit pieces. I think I want to prime them before I put them on.
How bad would it look if I primed them and then spray painted them gloss black? I know the car would be red and the kit would be black, but at least it would be somewhat shiny. I can always sand it down when I am going to do the electron blue paint job.
The alternative is just leaving it plain urethane and putting it on, but it may look even more "rice" than with the paint.
Ideas?

Oh man... IMHO, just don't put on the kit until you can get it painted to match too...
Clean, paint-matched body-kits
Dinged up, uncolormatched, sagging body-kit

As long as the Gloss black is compatible with the furure Electron Blue,or you plan to sand it ALL the way back down before the new paint, you should be ok. why not just leave it off until you get it painted???
Hmm because I have no place to store it
I also think it looks cool.
It is for the CRX anyways, the CRX is allowed to look ghetto rice.
Hey, how about painting it red to match the car? I do not know how well spray paint would come out heheh. I could do a few base coats, wet sand between each, and clear coat it. I wonder how ghetto it would look.

I do have access to an air compressor and an automotive spray gun, but I have absolutely no experience painting things (other than w/spray cans)

grab a friend and go to it...its not too much work...
You might be able to get the color you want put into a spray can...the Auto paint store here does that...but might be a little costly.
Just make sure you use a paint that will be alright under automotive paint.

I think I will just sand all of the old paint off when I get the car painted. No reason to leave ghetto paint under my expensive electron blue paint job

Dustin, isn't your crx actually an oxidized red?
You might wanna go with a 50/50 mixture of red and orange, hehe. I wouldn't paint them gloss black...you'll stick out like a sore thumb. Instead, be semi-rice and keep em primered or completely bare.

haha yes oxidized red.
Hmm. I do not know then. Maybe I will get a cheaper electric spray gun at home depot or something and get some paint mixed at an auto paint shop. Or is that ghetto too?

Personally, I'd just leave the kit off. It's one thing to have an unmatching bodykit on a car. It's another thing to have a Honda-Tech admin doing it.
If you must, spraypaint it red or something. At least it'll be unnoticeable while you're driving.

Haha, I think everyone needs to try being a riceboy at least once
I think I am going to try to paint it myself semi-professionally with actual automotive paint. I wonder how close I could get the red

the CRX looks good too...he had pics up for a while...
I just hate seeing a badly placed body kit....If it wear carbon fiber or something, the I'd say...yes YES! go for it!...but poly urethane, just looks like an unpainted body kit...kinda like those cars you see driving around town that have doors or hoods that obviously came off of another car...

Hey, we all have to be rice once
It will be finished the right way eventually, I just need to dump my money into the motor first.... else I would be painting the entire care asap (that was my original plan). Now I am building up a built LS motor for the CRX... But I want to put the kit on the car.
We all know that I am going to install it anyways so let's just be upfront about it.

Dustin, I personally wouldn't do it, but I know how you feel. Got a new toy, want to play with it immediately.
The integra just got a thermal exhaust and a 3" downpipe, bought some 550cc rc injectors last week. Next: a steel braided fuel setup and Hondata
