Default Selling the R, need help pricing

Sorry to waste your time guys, but I am really not sure what to sell my car for so I was hoping to get some help. Specs are:

2001 Type-R Phoenix Yellow
Arizona kept for entire life; no winters, etc.
40K miles even.
Mods listed in my sig. (nothing done to actual engine)
Stock radio
Code Alarm system

Ballpark what do you think I could get? Car is in great condition.

If you're the original owner and it's in great shape, I don't see a reason you couldn't get $18K or more after haggling. It may be easier to sell 100% stock and sell the parts.

This photo says otherwise (not that it has any effect on the value, because IMO it doesn't):

Supply & demand... and, depending on the market condition.

I need to get rid of it because the insurance costs for me are $2500 / 6 months. It just isn't worth it.

If I get an STi or an Evo I pay only $1100 / 6 months.

Think I could sell it for $17000?

I sold my 2000 R last July for $17.5. I didn't even get any offers when I was asking $18k, but I had about 5 real offers in a week when I lowered my price to 17.5. Go figure.

if you decide to buy a new car (sti, evo) after selling the R......you may also consider trade-in. Remember, the trade-in value will not count toward the sale tax on the new car. So let's say the dealer pay u 16.5K and the sale tax in your state is 6%.....you actually get 17490.

when you buy a new car w/ trade-in......make SURE you comfirm the price on the new car BEFORE telling them the trade-in.
Also, you should do some "homework" for the value of your R. Search on autotrader and print all the R in your area (like within 200 mi where u live), show it to the dealer IF their offer on your R is too low.

btw....I traded my R for the Evo

good luck

Damb Chris why is your insurance so high? Good luck w/the sale, the evo is starting to look pretty attractive to me also.

This is true in most states, but not necessarily true in all states; I have heard that California is a notable exception. (I don't know about Arizona though.)

It's an excellent point, though. Work the numbers and do what makes sense.

Sorry, I just test drove a G35 Coupe and I think that is the car I am going with.

Well, if anyone is interested I will sell for $17K. Will post a formal ad soon.

Not a bad price, but I don't think I can be your friend if you don't have a Hype R
