Default Skunk2 Adjustable Cam Gear - Help!

I just bought a adj cam gear for my 99 Accord. It was well packaged; but it came with no instructions! Not even the torque spec for the 6 bolts that hold the cam still. I emailed Skunk2 and they gave me the 6 ft-lb spec for the 6mm bolts and then told me to buy a Chilton manual to install the cam ! I've rebuilt an engine or 4 in my time, so I can mechanically install the thing. However, I understand (thru research on the net) that I need to short out the pins of "the connector" under my dash (for reasons unknown); and I was also wondering what the "safe" range of timing adjustment would be for this cam on my car...i.e. for my F23 engine, how much would I have to advance the cam timing to lower my power band 1000 rpm's ? Thanks!

You just install it as you would a stock cam gear. Follow skunk2s torque specs for the adj. bolts, they would know better than anyone else (also a dab of blue loctite will insure they stay in place). As for your tuning question you need to do some more reading to understand cam timing. You will not be lowering your peak powerband to 1000 rpm.

Thanks. Good idea about the loctite, too. As for the cam timing: I didn't want to lower my powerband to 1000 rpm..I wanted to lower by 1000 rpm's. I was hoping that someone out there did this same to his/her accord and could guide me as to where to start re: how much to advance it. Currently, my powerband is around 4-6 grand. Given the type of driving that I do, I would like it to be more responsive when I get to 2500-3000.
