Compression test on Hondas
I'm checking out a 96 Acura Integra (non-GSR) for a friend, who said it overheated last summer, and now it won't start. Thinking I would check the headgasket among other things, I want to do a compression test. Aside from the obvious, is there anything special I need to disable before doing the test? Sorry, I don't the exact model or engine type, but what compression numbers might I be looking at?
Thanks,
PJ

Dont worry about compression numbers.. just worry about the considtency between all 4 cylinders.. make sure there isnt a noticeable difference in psi between them..
Model doesn't matter as long as you know it's a nonVTEC (B18B) motor... Std. = 199psi, Min. = 135psi, Max Var. = 28psi (Min and Max Var. are a constant for all OEM B series motors)... Also just pull the junction connector, this will disable the injectors power, etc. If you are unfamiliar with the JC, it's located on the driver side of the car where the engine harness connects to the interior... It's a part of the engine harness and you'll see a bunch of yel/blk wires running to a connector with a dead end... That's the easiest way but if you want you can easily unclip each injector connector along with the dizzy... Hope this helps
