Default How do you tell if a P28 ecu is 5spd or automatic?

Can you tell if a P28 is automatic or 5spd. from the code on the side?

I heard if the code starts with a "5" then it's automatic, if it starts with any other number, then it's for the 5spd's.

Is there another way to tell? Is this true??

anyone know?
thx in adv

the other way is to remove cover from ECU and look at series of jumper resistors labeled RP. If RP17 has a jumper in it, it is an automatic ECU. If there is no jumper on RP17, it is a manual ECU.

Hope this helps.
