Steering wheel shakes at 70 mph?
Whats up, I installed my Skunk2 sleeves and Koni reds this January and I have been noticing a shake/vibration in the steering wheel at around 70mph. I have had the alignment done sice lowering and I am not to sure what it could be. any ideas??
excellent, that was my guess as well. Discount Tire puts those craptastic stick on weights that come off every 2 seconds. Just wanted to get some opinions. Thank you sir

stick on weights are the best kind, just make sure the surface is cleaned before sticking them on.
The best way to balance a tire/wheel is to use a combination of rim weights and stick on weights.
The last time I balanced my wheels at the shop where my friend works, they were out of stick-on weights, so I just used the rim weights only, and I still had a little vibration. I came back some time later when they got some stick-on weights and rebalanced them using both types together, and now it's much better.
I personally use rim weights on the inside edge of the wheel because my wheels are painted and I don't like the unsightly weights getting in the way on the outside edge of the wheel.

.....which would show up on the balance machine, but cannot fix.

Another thing to check is maybe a bend in your wheel. sometimes they cause the wheel to shake at certain speeds, but sounds like you need a wheel balance.
most likely it is the balance of you wheel. the best way to balance your wheel is to put weights on both sides. yes, it does look ugly, but this is the most accurate way. if you have aftermarket wheels or just don't want to see them ugly weights on the outside of your wheel, they do have the stick weights on the inside of your wheels.
I had the same problem so I changed all four rotors, pads and passenger side axle. When the mechanic test drove the car, the shaking got worse. We smelt and saw smoke coming from one of the brakes. This problem ended up being a bad caliper. Get your entire brake system checked out ASAP. Your life is more important than a piece of metal!
Hopefully this can help you out.
