Has anyone used King Motorsports for any headwork on their ITR? I know most people like Portflow but King is within a day drive for me and Scott and Bob at King have been helpful in setting-up my ITR for track duty. Before anyone goes into the "they are too expensive" BS. I have checked and the prices are in line with Portflow and others. Also please add reasons as to why I shouldn't have it done there or why Shop "X" is better.
Thanks Mattj

That makes 2 of us. I would be interested in seeing some of their results.

I just got off the phone with Scott at King to clarify a few things before I proceed. Yes, King does headwork. It is all done in house. Prices start @ $800.00. You can check out the Website at http://www.kingmotorsports.com/racing/services/ or call them at 262 593 2800. I plan on having them do it over this winter.

Why hesitant? King has been preping and racing Hondas for over 20 years. With some 13? or so odd national championship with King prepped cars. Acura used and trusted King to introduce the new line to racing. Why not let a Honda-tuner/Racer work on a Honda head?? It looks like I'll be the "Guinea pig" here.

Well whats King is know for is doing races back in 80's and early 90's with CRX's. A fellow that race mechanic down here use to drive for them and for Redline oils back in the day. Now there moreless known for the work building the realtime cars...well the ITR's..not much of anything on the NSX. If they had there would be no need for Vortech SC as Mugen makes N1 NSX engines in Japan making 450-480hp. If you want the some best head work get it done by Toda of Japan not here in the US. Toda does most of the Mugen engines anyways atleast 4 pot engines.

Racer-X,
King builds the GrandAm Cup ITRs, NOT the Realtime ITRs for the Speedvision WC. Get your facts straight.

Jerome, Realtime's crew chief, builds their motors -- I believe that Comptech only provided them with motors during their sponsorship. I think that King does provide them with parts, but Realtime maintains, and has maintained their own cars few a while now.

From observation, if you look in the pits at the Realtime guys and on a different occasion @ Grand Am series in the King pits. You could see a familar face in both pits.
Well if company does all the labor work of balancing and blueprinting an engine and whatever other modifcations there is and then sends it to team to have them put it together..to me means they built the engine. It takes more skill to machine and work parts for engine and get them just right then just putting together an engine with all the right parts. Also realtime pays for this work as because if it was sponsored work then they would have the King Logos on there cars just like cup cars do. It's not the first time any team gets half there engine and parts built by another company. Also I never tell people what I don't know unless I was told from reliable source and I would think my friend is and well respected in the SE SCCA community.
Ken as for Toda special engine work..let me know exactly what you need done and I will get you a pricing from them..but you will have to ship it over to Japan and then back again. Tomei does good engine work but normally they work on just Nissans and Mitsubushis and I believe Toyotas as well. Then there is always JUN autoworks and then Feels and Mines. There is good # of reputable engine works builders in Japan.
