Car Won't start...
Hey guys just a quick question to see what you guys think
my car is carb'd , no fuel injection, and it won't start....it turns over so i know thats working. friend suggested might be ignition coil?? but that wouldn't just stop working one day it would be gradual wouldn't it?? I've tried pouring fuel right into the carb cause i know thats worked on my buddys car. Any suggestions?? maybe theres condensation in the fuel line?? if so how would i get that out?? thanks

check for spark out of the coil. you most likely will not have spark. if you dont have spark check for power and ground to the coil. the ground should be pulsing on and off, collapsing and building a magnetic field inside the coil. if it has power and a pulsing ground, but no spark replace the coil. if not check for CKP signal, or do a scratch test to simulate CKP signal. to scratch test, touch ground to the white wire in the distributor. (not 100% sure white but almost). if you spark test it and it sparks you know you need a new CKP sensor, replace distributor. if you have CKP and SYNC signal to PCM, check PCM signal to ignitor. if no signal present, check power and ground to PCM. if PCM has power, ground, signal in and no signal out replace PCM. if it is missing any of those find out why. if PCM is sending a digital signal to the ignitor, and the ignitor has power and ground but is not pulsing the ground to the coil, replace the ignitor. ignitors are the most common, highest failure part. if you have spark, check to make sure you have fuel, but it will most likely have fuel being carburated unless the fuel pump is bad. so if you have spark and fuel, but it wont start, check compression and timing belt. if you have compression, proper valve timing, spark, and fuel you are most likely missing something. possible plugged exhaust. good luck.

I'm not exactly sure, i went out there the next morning, pushed it into the carport, popped the hood, disconnected and reconnected everything i could that you mentioned, distributor, the distributor caps, the ignition, the plugs and checked em and the plug wires, everything appeared to be fine and so i tried to start it and it fired right up, so i am not exaclty sure what was wrong but it was something in there, is run perfect sence...
