Semi OT: Any suggestions on the best place to purchase a racing suit?
Jason - isn't OG-racing kinda close to you? That's in VA, if I recall. I would definitely want to try on a suit before I buy.
O G Racing is in/near Manassass VA in Northern virginia.
They've got a small but well stocked showroom.
It all really seems to depend on what kind and style you'd like to get.
There are several mail-order type places (like Racer Wholesale, ....)

In my opinion ... go with OG racing. I've ordered a lot of racing supplies from them. They have good prices and good service.
Thanks for all the help guys. As always, I do appreciate it.
Sean- you made a good point, a weekend trip to Manassas may be in order.
Ed- thanks for the info on the showroom, that's good to know.

Garth - Isn't there a small shop at Lowe's Motor Speedway too? Someone told me to try helmets on there before ordering one. Not sure if they have suits, too.
Worth a shot, if you have a CLT trip planned soon

Yeah, stop on by. Or at least drop a line when you're in the area.
I might be going back to OG soon for a collar and maybe some belt mounting hardware.
If I loose some (more) bodily mass I may fit into my old single layer suit!!

I've never tried one from here, but I've seen guys at the track with them that seem to like them. http://www.racerwholesale.com
Make sure that:
1) It's got an SFI 3.2/5 SEWN ON PATCH. If you get it from somewhere like Primm Racing, which has them for dirt cheap, you won't get the SFI sticker. Screwed if you ever wanna go racing.
2) Multiple layers. You want at least 2. 3 is even better.
The **** brown suit from Racer Wholesale is actually very good. It's made out of the stuff that firefighters use. Too bad it can't be dyed.

Jason - actually, if your not in a hurry you can check out the racerwholesale in GA during the ATL meet. However, I believe OG has a better selection of brands.
I got mine from RacerWholesale.com.. I also sent Jack there to get his. I like the suit, it's an AutoPro. 3-layers in one, so I don't have to wear nomex underwear.. very easy to use and only costs $189 or $199. Good Luck. They also have one made by G-Force, which is about the same thing.
I have a 3 layer Nomex OMP driving suit. They can be custom ordered with custom logos too. Mine is yellow top, with black bottom and arms. This is the same type suit that Michael Schumacher wears.
OMP also makes 2 layer suits that cost less. Fit/finish is excellent.
