Default Brake fluid flush question

Do you really need to flush out you entire brake system? I have 116k and never have done it. I have no problems. I am going to siphon out most of the fluid out of the reservoir and refill it with fresh fluid. Drive around a little. Then repeat two more times. I will bypass the bleeding process since it requires two people. Any comments?

there are self-bleeder kits on the market. I think around $20-25.

If you've never changed your fluid, at this point, I would almost leave it alone. You'll probably blow-out your MC if you get a shop to do it....and they use an auto-bleeder....which all do.

Why will i blow out my master cylinder? What if i just siphon out the fluid out of the reservoir and refill?

Brake fluid is hygroscopic - that means it picks up moisture from the air. That makes it corrosive. It picks up the moisture from the vent in the reservoir cap, so if you suck out the reservoir fluid, & put fresh in, you're helping. But not as good as bleeding your brakes. You'll be surprised how dirty & mucky the stuff will look if you bleed them...

When you stir up all that dirt & corrosion, maybe it'll screw up something. That's probably what RotaryBuzz is talking about.

That's a whole different question - why don't you start a new thread?? It could be air whistling in your booster, or maybe the pivots on your brake pedal need some grease?
