cam gear tuning question
what are the effects of advancing/retarding each cam? like how does moving the intake cam/exhaust cam around effect the way the powerband is put out? also is there a general area of adjustment to start with on the dyno or just 0,0? thanks for any help

adjusting the cams allows for more/less air to enter the combustion chamber because it changes the timing of the valves opening/closing. Depending on set up, your car might like more/less air, or more/less fuel in the chamber. start from 0,0 and go from there.
thanks for the help but how does each cam effect the powerband? like if i advance/ retard the intake cam will it move power to the low end or top end? same question for exhaust cam..... sorry im kinda new to the b-series tuning i came from a d-series which was easier thanks again
I dont think theres a "standard" way that the cams effect the RPM range. If you advance the timing on an intake cam on one motor, and it peaks the HP at the top of the RPM range, that doesnt mean it will do the same on another DOHC motor set up. I think its very dependent on that particular motor and the flow of air through the head.
