Need Hella Help with my Custom Project!!!!!!
superhonda has failed to help in answering these questions i have, and i came across this site, and i was blown away by the huge supply of raw info on turbos......
please share your knowledge, i need lots of help and the fastest i get this figured out the faster i can be spanking rather than getting spanked.
oh, and i have a 88 crx dx (d15b2)
vinyl seats, quantum tek rims, coilovers, ac technics muffler etc etc etc....
first of all ill introduce (or update) you to my project.........
i have a TEO4H Mitsu Turbo, oil lines, internal wastegate, custom exhaust manifold adapted to the turbo, a fat audi fmic, hks bov, a no name manual boost controller, and a non working boost gauge.
my turbo was started with the intention to show up some of the over populated mustangs in our town a suprise. the manifold, turbo, oil lines and intercooler are used, the rest is new. so far i need a few gauges, a fuel pump, an fmu, and some pipes (charge and down pipes) to finish the kit.
now here are a few of my problems and areas where i need some more info.
1. ill start with my wastegate, its a mitsu wastegate and the top of it bolts onto my turbo pretty close to what the one made for my turbo would be, but the thing is that the shaft of the wastegate is too long and needs to be shortened to line up to fit on the little lever thingy. is it possible to just cut and weld as needed to get it fitted????
and on a side note, can someone briefly explain how a wastegate opens, does the vacumm port detect boost and open on detection?
2. my charge pipes, i need someone to tell me what the easiest and best way to get custom charge pipes made. my local muffler shop does mandrel bends so i am going to go there to get my pipes made. how would i get the right pipes made? would i have to bolt the turbo on and take the car over there somehow and get them made? or should i use some sort of rod to bend and make a template for them?
3. the turbo should be pointing to the passenger side of the car, correct? so that the intake comming off the turbo would be closer to the passenger side air duct. or does it matter. the dude at the machine shop asked me which way it needed to be adapted to the manifold today, so just to make sure....
4. my intercooler need to be flushed out to get rid of the oil inside it, not sure why there is oil in there but there is.....so, do i take it to an engine shop to get flushed out? is there a way i can do it myself? how should it be done? is water safe to use? how will i dry the inside out once its flushed? how do i do a compression test on the intercooler to make sure there is no leaks? is there a way i can do it, or where should i take it to get this done?
5. my intercooler endtanks are both on one side (the passenger side)....will this pose a problem for making charge pipes? or will it make it easier?
6. does anyone have a drawing of where the vacuum lines go? also i need to know how to install the oil line on the turbo.
7. where to get an oil feed spout thingy that goes on the oil pan, and i need to know where on the oil pan it goes and how it should be angled, if it should be angled at all... and how to take off the oil pan and how to drain the oil pan etc.
8. my wastegate spring is apparently set at 10psi, but i want to be boosting, 5psi or less (just for the winter, and then up the boost to about 6-7psi for the summer) i need to know how to do that, or if i can do that with my manual boost controller.
9. lastly, what is the best fmu to use, i have seen lots of custom kits running the vortech fmu and i have also heard good things about the cartech fmu, i want a cheap one, and i want one that will work best for my application, also, what ratio do i need for my car????????????? and i need to know what fuel pump i should use for my application.... i need lots of help finding a fuel pump....... any sites or places to get these cheap i wanna hear about! i also need a missing link, i need websites or info of where to get one and how much it will cost, and what type is the best etc etc.... please tell me if you think i will be needing any other type of fuel mods to run my turbo right.
