It's official...the EP is coming to an end
Sort of makes me wonder what the 2005 SI coupes are going to have in them....
Can we see a K20A2 in the SI coupe and the K20A in a RSX-S with more power...
time will always tell won't it

It just says 04 production will be done. Nothing about the car actually coming to an end.
At least that's the way I read it.

typically, honda doesn't stop producing cars for a model year until later. for instance, with an accord or civic, they stop producing the 2004's in august/sept.
while the remaining stock is selling off, they start production on the 2005's so that they can be out near the end of the year.
but when they stop production earlier in the year, that means they have no intentions of keeping dealer lots stocked till the end of the year. meaning the model is coming to an end.

i think the reason is that it is the end of the 4-year run for the EP's around the world. remember, honda only produces a version for 4 years. with the NSX and gen3 integra as exceptions. maybe there will be another hatch. who knows.
Quote from the Temple of VTEC article:
Another item of interest for fans of the Si is that dealers have been told that the next generation Civic Si will be offered in a 2-door (coupe) body style once again, with "improved peformance".
Smells like a type R to me. You know Car and Driver and Motor trend have both been saying for a while that the CTR would be coming to america. This could be it.

"Don't get the wrong idea - this news item is not about the demise of the current Civic Si - it's simply noting that production for the '04 Model Year is quickly winding down. It doesn't say anything about the model disappearing for '05."
. . . or a Type R model, so don't hold your breath.

Well according to the Best Car magazine and another mag here in Japan, the next Civic Type R is all new once again. Smaller in size and engine. Supposedly a 1.5 liter with about 175-180ps. It looked kinda of neat looking, but really no guarantee that it was going to be the real thing. I think Honda wants to downgrade the Civic some, for racing purposes, currently it and the Integra are in the same class of vehicle. Whereas the old CTR and ITR were in 2 different classes of race. It didn't mention if the hatches were still going to be produced only in Swindon as they are now.
Whatever they do, Honda of America needs to release the car with a version of the K20 at least rated at 185ps 18kg-m of torque.

I agree also. IMO, they should redesign the hatchback rather than completely giving up on it.

So its model lifespan is done here (after the prescribed amount of time for civics), and they are projecting, based on sales, that they wont need to make any more... still, isnt the EP kinda popular in Europe?
I'd like something lighter, but only in a hatch... and there's no turning back on torque/hp... its got to either go up or stay the same in a much lighter car.
