Well, after taking a few closer looks at the C's short shifter (from pics on the net)...I finally understand why this short shifter is better than the rest and why people say the C's short shifter is smooth like stock and not notchy like other brand short shifters.
C's, in their great wisdom, not only increased the length of the pivot arm at the bottom of the shifter but they also moved the pivot point. The reason why "cheap" short shifters feel notchy is because they keep the factory pivot point while lowering the shift linkage connection to the shifter...when this happens the angle of attack of the linkage arm is changed and thus a notchy shifter is the result.
Now, I was thinking if I were to make my own bushing (out of solid nylon or something similar) to offset the longer pivot arm (of the cheap *** shifter that I have) at the bottom of the shifter, I would have a short shifter with stock smoothness. To make the bushing with the correct offset, I would have to measure the pivot arm differences between the stock shifter and my cheap *** short shifter. There is, however, a limitation to this...if the offset is too great, clearance problems will arise (you know what I mean if you ever dismantled your shift linkages or installed a short shifter).
Anyways, I'm just thinking out loud and may attempt this modification next spring. Any comments?

Ahh.....what are you gonna say when people ask u what kind of shifter it is?

It wouldn't be the first time I made a custom part. Me and BSQ should open up a shop and call it "Cheap Import Modifications".

OK, now you have really peeked my curiousity. I have heard about the C's short shifter but I have never seen pictures of it. Can you supply a link(s) to some pictures of the C's shifter? I have seriously thought about making my own short shifter, but I haven't given it much thought lately.
you could use an erector set for parts too...always thought the C's looked like that
