H22 swap in 5 months, then motor blows before i pick it up, what do i do? HELP!!!
I have a 95 accors lx, and back in August, the main bearings went so I bought a H22a jdm motor DOHC. I brought it to a place called pruven performance, who is supposed to really know their sh##. They re-wired the engine harness, hooked up the mounts, cold air intake, VAFC, pulleys, fabricated the exhaust system, even dynoed it at 189hp!!. Last week they told me to come pick it up,....when i showed up the next morning, they said "hey, the car is not starting, when we turn the key, there is just a click and then nothing else, we think it is the starter, we will check everything out and call you." I just got a call last night and they said that the engine is bad, the bearing awent in the block and i need a new motor. They said that they can get me another H22 for about $700 and do the swap for free, because they feel bad for what happened.
I called HMOTORSONLINE (where i bought the engine) and they said that it sounds like this place who is doing the wrench work fuc### up my engine and is trying to get me to replace it. what do i do?????? i dropped about $1800 in labor alone. Please give me some advise A.S.A.P!!!

Sounds like to me they didn't have oil in the car when they started it up or they didnt fully clean out the motor before they installed it in your car.
They had it running, they said as much, but it was still in their possession and responsibility when it died. May want to talk to a lawyer. Bet someone was out hotdogging it at night and fried it.

If you try starting a low-battery Prelude engine it gives a fast clicks like a relay is tripping out; Go down there with a multi-meter check the battery, this all sounds very dodgy/suspect; but if the bearings really have gone then what he sad...

first of all did they get the motor for you or did you bring them the motor?
if you got the motor and brought it to them.. good luck, they are gonna say you brought them a bad motor.
if they got the motor for you and installed it. let them know that you had nothing to do with the purchacing/installing of the motor. if they think the motor is bad, they need to contact who they got it from and get it striaghten out.
if that doesnt work, let them know they installed it wrong. they said they would give you a h22 accord and you dont have one, so your not payin.
if they still wont budge, let them know that you are gonna have your lawyer contact them.
if all else fails send them a bomb!

OK MAN.......heres the deal! you all need to watch out for hmotors becasue they tried to **** me too.......i doubt they even compresion checked your motor or even tested it.....now day the japanese motors we get are **** because there is such a high demand in the US, they just send us junk motors, and shopps are having problems with the bad motors they recieve, but they sell them anyway because thats all they have......i live here in so cali where hmotors is located......for about a month i was looking for a 1st gen b16 with LSD....i could not find one....i finally found one at hmotors......so i bought it, thinking hmotors is a good place because they get good remarks......so any way i brought my car ( 91 crx) to autolink( if anyone knows autolink, they some of the best around). the next day i get a call from autolink telling me that i was given the wrong half shafts and i got a bad axle! think well what ever i said just get me new ones,( thinking i would need to replace them sooner or later) so another day goes by and i find out that my SiR shift linkage is bad, so what the hell i get a place racing linkage....so i fanally go to pick up my car and when i get down to autolink i find out that my syncro is blown and my tranny is ****! so i call up the guy at HMO and he tells me the same thing....autolink fucked up my car.......i was like " i dont think so, thinking that they build race cars at autolink, asimple b16 swap would be a synch" so i finally thold him that if he doesnt give me a new tranny apay for it to be swapped, i would sue him.....he finally gave in and i got my car back......wheww that was some typing...sorry alll i just wanted to fill you in HMOTORS GETS A
FROM ME!
FROM ME!
Sorry to hear about your experience and hope it gets worked out. Kind of hard to figure who to blame the installers or the condition of the motor?
heres the update! I called HMOTORSONLINE and told them they sent a faulty engine, i told them it ran for less then a mile, it was dynoed and then just died. They said that because it was dynoed, the warranty was void. After i called HMOTORS, I called Pruven to see if a tech that was working on the car could call and maybe work something out,...Appareantly, they told HMOTORS that they never dynoed the car and did only minimal work to it! After they spoke, Pruven called back and asked told me that because i said thay dynoed it before, they could not work anything out.
(made me look like a liar
) So, i then call back HMOTORS and apologize so, maybe, he will have some sympathy, And because he thought that Pruven Performance screwed up my engine and is pointing the blame, he felt "bad" and will give me a new long block for his price of $900. Pruven said they will do the swap free of charge.
Take it as a lesson and a loss i guess, atleast i dont have to pay for labor twice.
