Ugh why doesn't he get a new battery or charge the hell out of it. Sounds like it's

drained, is it cold there?

Could be that the battery has just died, that happens sometimes. Swap it with a battery you know is good and see what happens

If you say that the battery died overnight the thing that i would suggest is that its the battery or the alternator. The alternator might not be charging the system. IF you were to check the battery for voltage the battery is good if its over 10 volts. A new battery will have approximately 12.6 most batteries dont have that though. If its really cold in your area you battery could be just getting to cold. I know where i am its damn cold. check the battery for voltage if that is not ok try charging is so it is within specs, if it drains then replace your alternator. and it wouldn't hurt for a battery either. You can add water to the battery cells, most batteries have tabs on them pop those off and look to see if you can see acid/water in the cells and fillem up.

Have the battery and charging system tested at an Advance auto parts or Autozone.

how old is the battery? 5 years is about the limit.

Prolly is the battery, but if you want to check for a draw, get a small 12v light socket, connect a aligator clip to each end, dissconnect the negative battery terminal, and connect one end of the bulb socket to the negative battery cable, the other end to the battery post, so the car is grounding through the bulb. The bulb should emit no light, if it does start disconnecting stuff or pulling fuses till it goes out. I work at a stereo shop and we have to do this all the time for customers complaining of draining batteries, hope this helps.
