Default d16y7 with y8 intake mani legality ?

is it legal (smog) in california to put a d16y8 intake manifold on a d16y7? i know in cali, you cant have a ls/vtec or crvtec cause you cant mix and match heads and blocks. but what about just the intake manifold?

I don't see why it would'nt pass. It retains all of the same sensors and such. As long as you are putting a 96-98 IM on a 96-98 block and 99-00 the same way due to the extra air injection holes.

Will it make a big difference by putting in a y8 intake mani. Also would anytihng else be needed to make it work.

What you mean moose. Isn't it the same way to put a y8 manifold on. Same as the skunk 2 one

its the same installation, but its just a pain in the ***. and im lazy.
i heard the skunk2 has a little better power gain, and im boosting so i kinda wanted a better flow. its all talk. I prolly wont even bother swapping on IM.

is the skunk IM for the y7 50 state carb legal or whatever? and is it like the y8 manifold that has the throttle body on the side and not on top of the manifold?

If concerned about passing inspection, the y8 intake manifold and the skunk2 will pass. Last July I went and pass with flying colors.

Both y8 and s2 manifolds house a horizontal throttle body.

Your current manifold looks like this.. (my motor when stock)

Once you replace with either a y8 manifold from the 96-00, or a skunk2 d-series IM, it will look like this.. (after the y8 mani swap)

Notice: the tb position. and runners. Better air flow.

Hope this helps a little. not much of a tech.
