Whats the real purpose of a short-shifter and what benifits are there in using your stock shifter as opposed to a ^

No, you dont.

It's purpose is to make your shift shorter.

We should both register like 10 user names and post ***** all of them to make the rest of the world think MN has a huge Honda enthusiast population.

Short shifters eat your synchros.... don't give them enough time to mesh....

terrible on honda trannies....

Negative.... engages to fast.... Until you can prove otherwise, I stand by it being mechanically impaired not driver.

The reverse can also be said.

I wouldn't reccomend one. I think there are better options out there. I had a cheap *** short shifter in my car for a while and it really sucked. It felt sloppy and I missed more shifts. Plus it sat down too low which is bad for autocross and road racing. I finally switched it out for my stock civic shifter and liked it much better...now I am running a stock gsr shifter and es shift bushings. I love the setup and wouldn't choose anything else. The dual bend gsr shifter feels great . Only problem is I had to cut the bottom of the shifter and use the civic shifter bushings to make it work with my civic shift linkage which isn't as wide as the integra shift linkage.

oh my god not again...

It is NOT short shifters that kill trannies/synchros...its bad drivers.
As long as youre not slammin gears when youre goin to work/school/grandma's house and shift normally, then youre fine

Short Shifters are for RESPONSIBLE people...not fools that think its cool to "race" all the time

Bingo, if you granny shift it, no prob.... the whole purpose is for racing... drag, on the track racing... if you want to cut time, you slam gears, that's the way it works.

But I suppose the kids here who have been honda tinkering prolly less than half the time I have would know...

Interesting side note, I had a boosted civic when half of you know-it-alls were in 4th grade....

Not that it matters, but you see trends of products over time and their negative effects...

Search the web for different reviews... they are all over the place...

The negatives come from people who drag with them, the positives come from the savvy consumer who thinks they are cool for daily driving
