Default Hearing VTEC

i cant hear my vtec kick in anymore. how can i check to see if its working? I used to here my intake when it kicked in but now no change in sound.

are you saying that when you use to hear it that you didn't feel it also? If you dont hear or feel it then something might be wrong. check oil level.

checked oil its perfect. My friend has an EX also and i can hear it on his so we traded intake to see if i coul hear mine but nope. What else can i check?

VTEC on SOHC engines can only be heard from under the hood meaning from the engine. With a SOHC VTEC engine u wont hear VTEC through the exhaust like DOHC engines. Maybe this is y?

And the person i was replying implied that HE NEVER HEARD VTEC on his friends SOHC. So that is y i said that and that y i QUOTED him and not the post maker.

yes i used to hear it thourgh my intake. Like i could tell a difference but it seem like now its not working is there a way to check and see if its working?

i never heard it on my sohc either....you woulkd think that if it wasnt working it would throw a code.....i ahve had probs with my vtec soln but it throws a code i blew one up and sometimes it will throw the light and i reset the ecu and its fine.......so i duno

with a 3" short ram on my D16Z6 i could hear VTEC.. but once i converted it over to a 3" cold air, i couldnt hear it anymore. who cares about sound, as long as it still works.

i recently fabricated a cold air box similar to comptech for my 2001 Gsr integ and I cant hear vtec come on any more lol on a DOHC motor but I can feel it....

If you cant hear it anymore, and you could before, I would just do a valve adjustment! I bet that is it?

i was thinking i need a valve job but not b/c of vtec. i had cold air i new i couldnt hear it then so i put it to short ram b/c its a two piece intake. still couldnt hear it. is there a way i can do a check to see if it checks in.

Its not that noticable on a SOHC. Its at ~4500, it will start to hum louder.

take your intake tube off and drive around the block, you should hear vtec.. i remember when my intake tube fell off (dont ask me how that happen) my vtec was way louder..
