89 CRX DX Timing Help
I have an 89 Dx that im having trouble getting into time, the problem is that it has 3 timing marks and i done the usual with lining up the 2 parallel marks to the head , and it seems not to run right , and yes i had it in time at the bottom, the question is did i have it right or do i lint the one off mark to 12 O'clock , the car ran just like poo poo. Thanks in Advance
their should be a triangle near the bottom on your crank pulley that has to be lined up with the mark on the gear underneath the alterntor belt. You have to take the pulley off to get at it. hopefully thats what it is......
are you replcing a timing belt from a previous belt snap? or are you replacing it for maintainance? check for any open vacuum that might got loose? at which mark did you put the bottom part? there are couple marks on the pulley?
the crank pulley only has one mark the cam pulley has 3 , i can get the crank in time its a no brainer(only one mark and i checked it and the #1 piston is up so the crank is right ohh sorry it a maintenance change the whole head is also been redone

If you look on the backside of the cam gear there will be two white paint marks- they may be dirty- line these up with the valve cover surface of the head.
