WHERE CAN I FIND AN EXHAUIST for my 1St Gen CRX?
Well I don't know what you consider shitty. But I'm not sure if there is much strong aftermarket for those CRXs with the known import aftermarket companies like Tanabe, 5Zigen, HKS, etc. You might need to just go pick up a muffler and have an exhaust/mufflershop do the piping for you. Remember mandrel bend = better!
i just pulled a pacesetter cat-back off of a crx at the junk yard. if you dont like pacesetter, i would get a custom pipe made. im keeping the pacesetter for now, because aftermarket exhausts are hard to come by.
It is possible to buy exhaust manifolds for the 1st Gen Si from Pacesetter (terrible crap, avoid at all costs) and from DC Sport (great stuff, highly recommended). Occasionally a Lightspeed Racing header will turn up on eBay and they are good also. Check eBay and your local "penny saver" newspapaer for used headers (your car is used, why not the parts?).
After the header is the catalytic converter. Your local muffler shop can slap on a fine cat for about $150. The "high performance" cats that are sold are nothing special, save your money.
After the cat is the "Cat Back" system. Pacesetter (terrible crap, avoid at all costs) still makes a cat abck for the 1st Gen but it is a waste of money.
Your local muffler shop can whip up a system for you for a fraction of the cost of a "Cat Back" that they sell in the shops.
On my 1st Gen Si, I had the local muffler shop put a 18" glaspak" behind the cat and then routed the exhaust out the side of the car in front of the passenger side rear wheel. The exhaust is not too loud and works great.
