carbon fiber lip as strong as urethane??
hey guys, i was wondering if a carbon fiber lip for my 5th gen would be as strong as poly-urethane .correct me if i'm wrong but im sure cf is stronger than fiberglass.I am wondering this because i recently cracked my mugen style front bumper and the body shop cant fix it
so i need an alternative. what do you guys reccomend for the best strength and quality cause i'm not looking to have to do this again.all help is appreciated thanks guys

from what i know/heard, cf is way stronger than fiberglass cuz of its tight weaves, but not as strong as urethane cuz dents and what not pop back into place on urethane bumpers. i could be wrong tho
I would go with polyurethane. they're flexible enough to absorb shocks and bumps. cf on the other hand while light and cool-looking will simply crack.

yup, better how polyurethane will bend

alright well the AUTHENTIC mugen front bumber which is poly-urethane happens to be $1,200. i mean **** is it really worth all that just for the urethane bumper. i dont think i will be able to pay for that not including paint and installation. btw thanks for the replies.
Carbon fiber is strong, but when you hit something, or you're going up a steep driveway, etc, it will crack unfortunately.

CF will resist bending and crack under stress while urethane will bend any which way and bend back into place. Pick the CF only if you want the CF "look".
CF is very strong but nobody usually builds them with enough layers to be like that. It resists flexibility so more often than not you'll just rip it apart. But ones I have made have taken quite the beatings sometimes, but I vacuum bag so they are stronger than wet layups.
Uretane lips you can run them over with an 18-wheeler and you can just heat it up and reshape it back to normal.

yeah greddy isnt bad except for the big *** "GREDDY" emblem on it. i dont like it. but thanks for the replys once again. oh yeha...i found the mugen style front bumber in fiberglass for only $129 so i may just do it all over cause its so cheap. i just love the way the mugen looks.i cant get over it
The greddy lip is garbage. I had one on my si for a couple weeks before it cracked once on my driveway and a second time broke into 3 pieces after hitting a rock on the highway.
i think i am going to go with the wings west rs fron kit. its clean and urethane. not much more to ask for (except authentic mugen...too bad its $1200

Man i can't stop thinking about this...maybe i love my car too much but i'm really want my car to look as clean/cleaner than it was before the accident.I'm assuming the answer to thi next question is no but im going to ask anyways just in hopes that it is possible...does anyone make a urethane version of it that is not authentic mugen and *** loads of money??
