Default another exhaust question

i heard that alot of the restriction in the stock cat-back exhaust is the piping
so my question is how would my exhaust flow if say i used the stock resinator and stock muffler but had a shop bend me a bigger pipe
just a thought cuz i wanna get a race header and i got a straight pipe
rite now and it'll be way too loud with the header, but i kinda dont
wanna spend the cash on a real cat back

That's what a lot of people do. Mandrel pent piping from after the stock cat, to the axleback, and then use a stock muffler to try and keep the sound down.
