Default s1 tranny?

Did a bunch of searching and couldn't find what I wanted. I'm just looking for specs on the s1 tranny? I Thought that I heard that it has pretty short gears but that is about it. any and all other specs are appreciated.

same gearing as the 96 type-r, 2nd shortest gear ratio in b16 land, 92-93 GSR ys1 is the closest ratio cable tranny out there

Its the most common JDM cable tranny out there and are good quality. The downside some are known to have grinding problems from abuse, and replacement parts not to be had no North America.

i have an s1 tranny in my b16'd crx

its a good tranny but every tranny has a downside

pros
- very short gears
- awesome for running on the stret, if thats your cup of tea since it accels FAST

cons
- eventually your 2nd, 3rd and 4th will start to grind and mess up, all b series cable trannys are notorious for this
- very very bad for the highway and highway pulls(100kms/h = 4000rpm in 5th)
- bad on gas since the revs will always be high

if short gearing is ur thing, u cant go wrong BUT they syncros WILL go out on you
my 3rd is gone and my 5th pops out of gear in the highway every like 5 kms, its annoying as hell

to the guy that has 5th gear pop out. check yer tranny fluid. make sure its full and hell just change it. it cant hurt.

but neways i love the s1 tranny... other then the syncros...

final 4.4
1st 3.23
2nd 2.105
3rd 1.458
4th 1.107
5th .848

143mph at 8200 rpm... in a theoretical program that is.

I love the short gears of my S1. It's really nice on the road course for coming in and out of turns, but it sucks for long drives on the highway. I'm either gonna switch to a hydro JDM ITR trans or replace the synchros in my S1 and also pop in a LS 5th gear.

Yes they are. Make sure that you get the JDM S1 trans. There is a big difference!

You can get rebuild kits from JDM_DOHC_SIR on this board.
