Finding a Torsion Bar
I'm a newbie here, so hello everyone. I've got my faithful 87' CRX parked in my garage and have been working at making it roadworthy again.
My problem is this:
While it was sitting in the garage for three or four years the passenger side torsion bar ended it's life by twisting itself in two.
I guess it decided it did it's job long enough.
Anyhow, I took it out today and set out to find a suitable replacement.
After much searching on google, I haven't found much. I don't really want to spend the bucks on a high performance replacement, I'd just like a stock one.
I figure I can find one at a local junkyard, but I'd rather not if I could help it (seeing it's about 10 degrees where I live)
Is there some online source for aftermarket/oem (non-high performance) torsion bars?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

dont really know where to find replacement bars but it shouldnt be hard to pick up some used ones. performance ones are hard to come by i know that bc most companys dont make them anymore. lightspeed used to make them but as far as i know they are on backorder.
i would strongly look into aftermarket ones tho if your going to be lowering your car. bottoming out all the time isnt fun or good for your car.
goto g1teg.org 1st generation integra's share the same torsion bars as 84-87 crx's so you might be able to make a post there and pick up some replacements from someone that upgraded thiers.
sorry thats all the help i could provide

I know hasport has some as well but i think they are like 250 bucks or so. Anyway i feel for ya i have an 86 si with a b16 and there is not much aftermarket support for suspension. I know all 84-87 civic and crx torsion bars inter change as well as 84-87 civic wagon, civic wagon 4wd, and 86-89 integra. The wagons and integras torsion bars are thicker so then your car will handle like a go-kart. Anyway good luck.
actually, there is a heck of a lot of suspension stuff for thesce cars.. well, good stuff that is.. http://www.ompautosports.com has some good stuff..
I really appreiciate all the help I've been given by everyone here. I'm going to check the different links, since I may need other things in the future, but I managed to find a bar after much searching of local junkyards. I was about to give up since most yards said they were crushing anything as old as my car. Interestingly enough, I came across a crx just like mine (although in a sad state). I wanted to buy it for pats, but they wouldn't sell (even though they were just going to crush it). Anyhow, the guy at the yard drove me out to it and proceeded to deftly remove the bar in the easiest manner......
....he whipped out his torch from the back of his Mad Max looking Ford Taurus wagon and started cutting everything that was holding the bar assembly to the car...all while standing in 1-1/2 feet of snow.
When I say this guy cut everything, I MEAN EVERYTHING! Nothing was spared the torch, bolts, nuts, sway bar, and even the frame...with the engine still in the car and him underneath!
I couldn't believe it.
And after the hunk of components containing my torsion bar was removed all they wanted for it and a used antenna was a measly $15. I actually felt bad paying so little. The guy worked close to an hour getting the stuff off the car. I gave him 5 bucks for a beer.
So, if anyone is in NW Pennsylvania. you'll get a hell of a deal at Seaman's Auto Wrecking in Pittsfield, Pa.
Thanks again to everyone.
