i just moved to san diego a couple of months ago and i was going to buy a 88 crx but it has a SOHC zc swap and the kid was telling me they wont register it if it has a zc swap because it was never offered at all in the us... im not really familiar with califronia laws but i was wondering if that was the case because if it is i might not buy it..... if i end up buying it and if it is illegal and some of you have got some suggestions on how i can get it passed give me a email zdr262@yahoo.com......any help would be appreciated... thanks in advance ....

It should pass as they look exactly the same. Just try to cover up the part where it sayds ZC on the block. My car passed smog with a single cam ZC.

 

Actually I was told that the SOHC ZC is considered a stock replacement for the D16A6, and it's what I run in my 88 Si. I know that if you have a DOHC ZC in your CRX no one will touch your car (smog wise) unless it's under the table.

 

It is a stock replacement, isn't legal since they never offered ZC's in the US.

they dont really care about the sohc zc swaps, its the dohc's they wont pass for sure.
