new drums?
my rear drums have 180,000 miles. i was wondering, i fournd some trw (don't know if those are any good) for under 50 bucks. instead of new shoes should i just buy the whole drum assembly. what are your thoughts on this? thanks.
well, you can have your drums turned. I would probably get new ones if there under 50 bucks each. wouldn't you still need to get new shoes? when you get the drums, you probably get just the outside part.
oh i see. that might be the case about the shoes. the guy doesn't answer his email so i can't get any information from him. ill probably just pass on it
There's a thickness marker on your drums, or you can use a caliper to measure the thickness. If they're not too thin you can have them turned. Go ahead and replace the shoes a the same time and you won't have to open it for another 100k miles of street use
I buy drums at autozone. I can't remember the exact price, but it was the best price I found locally (shipping drums can be expensive).
