New project starting..lots of Q's on older gen tegs
First I've searched and found some valuabe info., but some is just too specific and this is probably going to be long!
I've decided on an all motor application with a 91-93 teg, with the cleanest chassis i can find in houston. This will be my daily driver (hence all motor) once everything is complete for the next school year at college since my z will be getting new turbos/tranny/etc. and will be down for a longgg time since I must do it myself. My budget is basically what i got for my totaled hatch 4.5k (#$%# mercedes driver) plus 2-3k. I'm stripping the car down to nothing but metal and a heater for comforts because i'm obsessed with weight (my 3400 z now weights 3289 w/ me in it). No a/c, interior, powersteering, power windows, etc, therefore probably going for an rs. First big question which i should already know, is do any of the models come with stock LSD, or will i need(?) to add it. My hatch had quick launches but with 200+fwhp it would most likely not. 2nd, what success have people had with swapping a k series 6spd into this car, I might have to have the motor for a long time and would like no troubles for years, plus it's something new. I'm not afraid of minor fabrication, but if the shifter is in the back seats or something that'll be a concern. Will it even clear the hood? Motor mounts have to be all custom or is it similar to a b-series swap? Will the driveshaft etc need modification? Lastly, aside from minor things like re-routing the cooling system, how the hell am i going to get a wiring harness to work for it. Considering the technology of the teg type s compared with the 10 year old+ teg, there has to be a lot of differences in sensors etc., that might make it not even possible/feasible. I know a guy putting a 02 rsxtypes motor into a 02 civic, so I figured it might be somewhat straightforward. THANKS GUYS!
Whoops that's what i get for having too many honda-tech windows open posted in wrong forum! But who knows you guys are somewhat related to the topic.
