Battery Question
Can a battery have an impact on performance. I dont mean weight or location of it. I just got a new heavy duty battery 'supreme gold' or some **** like that, and not only does the car start faster and better, but my idle is higher and the car is a little more livelier. Can this be so or is it all just in my head?
LMAO, but since it has nascar on it it would be more gain, but seriously, i guess the increase in current might give you more responsiveness, but as to power, dont really know...

well there are other things you can do, the two biggest restrictions on the f motors are the t/b and the o2 sensor housing, go bigger, and you will be pleased....
t/b or throttle body is what your intake is connected to which is connected to your motor this is where most of the air from the intake comes in and gets divided up the big hunk that splits into four right in the middle of the firewall to be blunt its got your injectors and fuel rail connected to it also.
o2 housing is if you have obd1 the area at the end of the headers where your o2 sensors plugs into
if you have obd 2 ( piece of **** ) like me then it is at the end of the headers ( i believe thats called a collector?)
and after the catalytic converter

Yeah, I know what a throttle body is, but t/b is an acronym I have'nt heard yet? How do I make that bigger? Porting it? M pretty sure I can do that. And how do I know whether I have OBD I or II. I have a 4th gen Accord ex sedan, and I have a collector with a sensor sticking out of the side of that. How do I make that bigger?
you have obd1. sorry about the throttle body speach...
your obd 1 becuase they didnt start in in accords till late 95
im not sure how you make the collector bigger ask sochvtec
i think he said he swaped his from a tb on a h23
actually now that i think about it sort of
couldnt you just cut out the stock collector and get some bigger pipe
made with a bung for the o2 sensor
and weld it on and there you go?

hmmm.... anyone have anymore definite info on these? i was told that a larger TB didn't do much... but am I mistaken? Also, is the collector the piece between the end of your 2-to-1 lower header (called an A-pipe I think) and the catalytic converter? Is it the piece that looks like braided stainless steel? I'm just trying to visualize it (since I replaced my headers almost 4 years ago)...
Well, the most obvious thing that could have happened is that the ECU was disconnected (when they disconnected your old battery) and now it is just going through it's normal re-learning process.
Your ECU got reset.

Um, I dont think its that. I think its metal plate piece under the valve cover that has that 'hand' on it and the word 'hot'. I THINK?!?!

What? NO. You read the converstion wrong. There is nothing wrong with my ECU or my exhaust system. We were just discussing how to get very cheap power gains. And to me, replacing the throttle body is not a cheap solution. Making a homemade intake is cheap. Changing t/b isnt. So how do enlarge my o2 sensor sohcman???

I don't recall having said that something was wrong with your ECU, or your exhaust system.

and for part two thats what im doing, and i thought while im at it i might as well do the whole exhaust or at least part of it so i have 5' section of 304 sss sitting in my dining room
:dink:
Larger TBs are a black art. A larger TB can reduce your intake velocity resullting in decreased low end and mid range (I think). Larger TBs should really be matched to good head work (I think).
