Weird problem...gotta be ground....Right? (searched)
So all my gauges go crazy, all the dash lights light up dim when I put it into reverse, or brake, or turn on the lights. Temp rises in conjunction to tach sometimes. Sometimes its perfectly normal. All this x10 when the lights are on.
I thought it might be a grounding issue, but the harness ground hasent moved any since the swap (just a replacement d), the battery ground is still solid, and so is the valve cover ground. Thought it might be the regulator so I checked the battery voltage. It was 14.04vdc and didnt fluctuate under engine rev. Then with the lights on it ranged from 14.04vdc to 14.64vdc under engine rev.
Im thinking it might be a short somewhere. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

alright haus, i'm a little loaded, but i'll help if i can. the first thing you wanna do is to see of you have a voltage between the motor and the chassis. grab your voltmeter and measure the difference between the valve cover and the chassis. if it is over 1 volt you should reground your motor. oh yeah, have the motor running with the headlights on. and make sure while you are measuring to move around some wires in case it is one of those "sometimes" problems. if you get a good reading.... i lost my train of thought. oh, no wait. ummm.yeah do that.
oh, just for reference, one time i was helping a guy with his 93 gsr he just did a motor swap in with this same problem. he blew up his b17 i think by downshifting on the freeway to the wrong gear. i have cool pics. anyways he put in a b16. i was sitting in his passenger seat and i told him to turn on his headlights and such and suddenly his speedo needle melted. see what happened was the motor was grounded well to the battery but not the chassis, and the chassis had a bad ground also, so the only ground path for the lights to the battery was through the speedo cable to the tranny to the battery, it wasnt pretty. gsr clusters are really hard to find. anyways, have fun kiddo.

All my lights worked. One of the grounds from my negative was broken though...You couldnt tell unless you really took a good look...then you could see the crack. Stupid ground.
