What goes in this hole? (86 1.5 Carb'd)
There is a place on the back of the block, near the oil pressure sending unit, for a Thermo-sensor.
My Factory Manual does not show it being used on the Carb'd model but my engine had one in it.
The wires have been cut. I'm re-installing the engine now and I dont know where to connect this sensor!
What's it used for?
I dont know if I need this or not?
Do any of you know?

did you cut the wires or were they already cut? did you recieve a wiring harness with the engine. i am not familiar with carbd hondas AT ALL but this is my best attempt to help. if you are really in a jam just extend the wires to an accesible location and drop the engine in. it could run perfectly without these wires. also look into relays that these wires can go to since you dont have an ECU(or do you?) maybe a fan relay somewhere? od you have a helms for this car?
Thanks D.
I picked up a picked over car to rebuild. The wires were already cut.
I bought a used engine for it, so I have both engines and two wiring harness'.
I picked up a harness off a scrapped 86. Lo and behold, it's different than my "Cut and patched" harness.
Both Harness' have a connection for the Thermo-sensor in question.
The two wires go into a harnes from the dash. Not labeld in my Factory book.
So I did what you said. I left the loose wires ot where I could reach them.
I have it back in the car now. Just waiting for the Rains to quit (Five and a half inches since monday) for a day so I can finish hooking up the stuff on top.
I suspect I'll still have the overheating problem to deal with.
I should be very proficient with the cooling system in the next week or so.
I still dont know what that sensor does!
I did check all the sensors. One was Open. Didn't work at all. The Rest acted like a Switch. When the Temp went up to a certain point, the sensor began to conduct.

it is most likely your fan switch then. if you are totally stumped just run two wires to from the switch to the fan and warm the car up. if the fan turns on the your on the right track (dont want to say you figured it out incase it is something else.)
I appreciat the help guys.. It's raining here. Days and days of it. I'll just wait till it's sunny again and then go to work on this accursed Honda.
Thanks again for trying.
