Do cams make a distinct sound when reving your car?
Different cams make different sounds, just like different engines make different sounds, like different mods make different engines sound differently.
Do you mean Stock cams as opposed to aftermarket cams? amd do you just mean cams or the combination od cams and I/H/E or just H&E or just E?
Your's is a broad question,
A.

Mine go:
Bwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh(vte c)BWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHH!
Bwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh(vte c)BWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHH!
I can tell you that Toda Spec A cams "pop" louder when they go into VTEC.
The Crower cams are loud as hell when they go into VTEC because the VTEC lobes are much larger than the primaries.
This same aspect can be seen in the Spec B cams, but in the opposite way.
It's hard to tell when VTEC kicks on the Spec B's because the low lobes are so big and the powerband is so linear.
But yea, when a car has Spec B's and it's full throttle, you can tell the car has some sack.
