I've never made it up to a NEPA event before. Anyone wanna give me a rundown on what to expect?

Surface, lot size, runs, org, course quality...

Other details?

Worth about 1.5 hour drive?

 

...and if some one could post something about the lot condition (snow?) for Rodney so he'll quit IMing me about it...

Someone is supposed to go up today or tomorrow to see. Last I heard most of it was melted. And yes it's worth it. They are a great and friendly bunch of people. They allow passengers for your competition runs - this winter event is more for fun than winning. You can also jump in other people's cars to see how they run., etc...

The lot is then going to be sandy with all the salt and gravel they put down on the lot. It's not huge, but they setup some interesting course designs.

Registration opens at 10am. We got 7 runs for $20 (SCCA members). Also had a 30-45 minute lunch break (you can go in the mall and eat) and we were done by 2/3pm.

Trophies are very nice glass mugs. Supposed to be 15-20 degrees on Sunday according to the weather channel. SO dress WARM! I wore like 3 shirts, and thermals, biking shorts, and pants and I was toasty

 

Reg open at 10?!?!? Done by 3pm?!??! WITH 7 RUNS!!!

Sounds like I know what I'm doing this sunday! I don't even have to wake up very early!

Yeah that's what I like about it. I leave here by 9am and takes me 1 hour to drive up. Last event only 12'ish people showed up in the frezzing cold

A little snow never stopped me before

 

It'll stop me for aprrox 2 hrs each way of travel time to Frackville. I would have to leave around 7:00 - 7:30. I will be watching for that report sat. morning.

oh, so my 3~3.5 hours each way shouldn't be scoffed at....

 

I want to know cause if it's dry I do not want to destroy my snow tires. I'm just going to use the Azenis which are hard as rocks sitting in my garage

By the way Rodney. I tried replying to your PM you sent me at ClubSi. For some reason I cannot PM anyone.

 

I didn't even know their was a race this weekend. I guess I"m going to have to dig my race tires/rims out of my dorm room closet. I'll see if Chris wants to come also, so some can show me what my car is capable of .

Erm I think I might change my mind. Last time I went it was 10 degrees and this lot is one of the highest points in PA, so the wind gusts at 20-40mph all the time. I froze my *** off last time. Not worth it for me

 

OoOoOO temp went up by 2 degrees I need to decide by tonight. Anyone else definitely going?

i second that notion. if i was local, i would be all over it.... ah, maybe next time.

I should be there too with two other people. But I started getting sick today so we will see tomorrow morning.

 

It was a fun event until the course ruts got really icy...

Chris J took 1st in the FWD class. I can't remember who got second and Eric S was 3rd.

I took 1st in awd.

Chris J edged me out for the overall FTD. The course was already decently polished by the 2nd heat... The loose snow/ice became fairly packed. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

Chris and Eric were about 3-4 seconds behind their morning times when they ran the 3rd heat. Though I think you were still there to see that.

It was fun, dry pavement would be nice next time to be able to put some power down, but how many chances to run in the snow do we get? Gotta take advatange while we can!
