Default DIY Turbo Kit,U buy the Manifold and Turbo. Where do you get the Misc Pipes,Peices

Just wondering, where do you get all the misc little things? Or is it better to buy a full kit, then swap out the manifold and turbo you want, then sell off the ones that came with the kit. IM just wondering how you guys did it Or if there is a place where you can buy a kit minus the turbo and manifold

380 bucks for piping!?!? Ouch! Heres what I got off whitney for about 80:
(You will need to order two of these) 81ZX3031U 180 Degree Mandrel-Bent Aluminized Tubing, (A/B)=12", (C)=5", ID=2-3/8", OD=2-1/2" Each 13.95

81ZX2953P 90 Degree Mandrel-Bent Aluminized Tubing, (A/B)=10", (C)=5", ID=2-3/8", OD=2-1/2" Each 9.95

81ZX3035N 180 Degree Mandrel-Bent Aluminized Tubing, (A/B)=24", (C)=5", ID=2-3/8", OD=2-1/2" Each 22.95

I found the pipe info and a bunch of other part info on http://www.cse.uconn.edu/~yele....html

my opinion is to just buy a full kit. sooner or later what u paid for everything is gunna cost the same amount if you were to buy new. ask some of the memebers on h-t. who said power was cheap?

I did my own custom kit and finished a few weeks ago. The only problem is the turbo I got off ebay needs new seals, so make sure it is a good turbo whan you buy it. I cant weld yet so I got the pipes from JC Whitney, the exact same ones that are listed on this site - http://www.cse.uconn.edu/~yele....html, and I cut all the peices to fit and duct taped them together and took them to a shop to get them welded. I bought an SSAutochrome manifold for like $200. I heard it cracks and its a peice of **** but it works fine and looks real good, it turns from polished silver to gold and purple after a week of driving, I have pics if anyone wants me to post them. It also puts the turbo lower in the engine bay which is good for heat reasons, but bad because downpipes from other kits wont fit. I would have saved a shitload of money building my own turbo kit, like I did, if I didn't get ripped off by Adam Zittell on ebay for a full turbo kit whan all I got was a tiny *** T3, a BOV and a Vortech 12:1 FMU. So I think putting together your own kit is a good plan, mine looks better than most kits too.

My DIY kit is turning out more expensive than most kits, but at the same time I am getting some of the best quality parts for my setup. I think DIY is the best way to go when building your own kit.

Thats cool, Well Basically Im gonna Switch to a Jg Intake Manifold, and want to rock the INlinepro Manifold and an Sc61. Other then that I'll take a stock kit. So if someone knows a kit that comes with those parts or will allow me to upgrade to those. I guess really only The inlinepro and Turbo are the only parts of the kit Id want to change. So if I buy a full kit and someone wants to buy just the Fmu,Turbo and manifold from me. Im sure we can work something out.

you're better off piecing a kit together. i did it with a Budget of $1,700 except that i had a intercooler from a kit i bought. all of my parts were NEW, (turbo, manifold, WG, etc), but i wouldn't suggest trying to do it yourself unless you have access to plenty of tools and more importantly a welder. my friend the the welding when necessary and i did the rest. it also takes a lot of time and research finding the right parts for your set up and getting the best prices. if you decide on a DIY kit make you sure plan for the future. my kit is capable of producing 450hp max becuz of the turbo but if i need more all i'll have to do is get a bigger turbo.

good luck

OK then New question. Wich complete kit is the most "upgradable". As far as me buying the kit and then being able to swap out The manifold and or turbo and still make use of the Most amount of stock parts from the kit?
