Default relay clicks but nothing happens. not even turn over at times

I had made a post asking how likely it is for a main relay to go bad. When i went to start my car, the relay would click loud and in a random pattern suond. The car would turn over slowly then fire up. Now I turn the key, the relay clicks, the fuel pump IS priming, but the starter does not engage. Its a new starter and works fine.New optima battery as well. so whats causing the starter to not work and now dot even try to work. Just click under the dash and nothing. I have to push start my car now. but once it started right up again... whats the deal?

when you say the relay clicks do you mean the main (pgmfi) relay or the starter solenoid. could be the ignition switch or bad battery conection at the battery itself, starter or chassis ground.
