Default Struts and clanking noises

I put my suspension on my civic about a year and a half ago. Tokico Blues, and EIbach Sportlines. The ride is not too hard yet not soft. I enjoy them and its about a 3 inch drop after said and done.

Lately I have been noticing a metal on metal sound coming from my driver front strut. Is this the dust shield on the strut hitting or what? Should I be concerned? Its done this for a while now, and I havent had any problems out of it. I am about to install a camber kit so I would like to know what my problem is when I have things taken apart and try to remedy the problem

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you work on your own car?

I'd get it up in the air and inspect the area... see if anything is loose or worn...

I have a similar noise which is caused by the lower shock mount bushing (in the lower control arm) is worn to all hell... so when I go from reverse to first it clanks...

Take a look, that's your best bet...

I don't think anyone's going to be able to tell you where the noise in your car is that they can't here over the internet is coming from...

There are LOTS of sources of clanking and banging and rattling on ALL cars... It could be one of a million things...

Inspect the area or let someone else do so.

He means that the wheels look like they're on an angle... from top to bottom...

IE the bottom of the wheel is tilted out and the top is tilted in. like this...

Where the zero's are your headlights (looking at the car from the front) and the slanhes are your tires...

I doubt you're kicked out that far though as I don't think you got an actual 3" drop from sportlines... they're designed to allow you to get the car aligned to stock spec w.o mods...

Basically he's telling you to go get aligned (ask for a before and after print out)... They will either tell you nothing (IE it's fine and got aligned fine) or they'll tell you your car is too low or you have something bent so they can't get it to align properly.

keep me posted as to what your problem is civic_rice. I just guessed my car is 3 inchess lower. Its not what it was supposed to be I can tell you that. I think the combo of the TOkicos made it a bit lower. Its low as crap thoguh I can tell you that. Lower than I would want but oh well.

If you're both having the same problem I'm betting the spring doesn't seat well on the tokico strut...

I did a set of tokico springs and struts on a friend of a friends car and the struts didn't have a very good spring seat at all... I used some mechanics wire to hold it in place so they wouldn't walk around...

That may be both of your problems.

I used to have a noise
I realigned the brake pad retainer clips and that solved the problem

but it may be that your springs are clanging together...the different loops/whatever of them...know what Im saying??
