make sure your plugs are properly gapped............
the setup is a jdm gsr motor in my 99 coupe......... all stock save for a 12.5lb flywheel and a cm clutch....... i just put the motor in a month ago, so i'm still getting used to it's little nuances........ the biggest issue i had with the motor is that it felt slower than my b16a2. it would pull hard in the low and mid ranges, but i felt a noticeable increase in acceleration at 4500rpms (vtec on) and 6200rpms (butterflies open) and then a sudden drop-off at 7000rpms.... some of you may recall my post about that....... so, anyway, today i regapped my spark plugs to .045" from .050"............ i think that solved my problem.......... took it on the freeway today and the acceleration is completely linear, no more power bumps at 4.5k and 6.2k.... the best part is it rips all the way to 8200rpms........ it goes without saying that i'm relieved it's working. i think i'll try a slightly smaller gap this afternoon, but i just wanted to share................
cliff notes: too much gap = too little power.

Its been my experience, the little things get you in the end. It was always the stuff I looked over that became the culprit of my problems, troubleshooting is your friend
Try having these kinds of problems with a boosted motor. That's the worst. Especially a boosted motor nobody wants to boost
(my little y7 warrior). Finding the correct gap on that damn near drove me crazy.
