What car? 240sx or Miata
This is the deal.
I just got my daily driver recently and i'm selling my old car soon. I have some money saved up and altogether i will have about $8-9000 (CDN!!). I have two main choices since i want a rwd car that i can afford. I may purchase a beat up s13 with a possible sr swap or a miata. Miatas are much more expensive which means i will have little to no money left over from the car.
What do you think i should do? Go 240sx junk and have at least $5000 for sr and a couple bolt ons or go for the miata as it is? I can't decide.......I guess maybe it must come down to a test drive....what do you think?

i think i can answer this one, but as stated before, i need to know what you're goals are for the car, and what you plan to use it for.
i currently own a miata, and just sold my 98 240sx last october that i had for over 2 years, so i have a good understanding of both vehicles.

Also.. How tall are you? If you're over 6'5", the Miata's out!!!

First thing first: If you are going to buy a Miata, look into flying to the US and bringing it back. I don't think legalizing it is tough, but you will save yourself a couple thousand dollars and get a car less likely to have been in Canadian winters.
I'll also agree that it depends on what you are looking for. A Miata is a great car if you have another car. As a primary vehicle, it tends to get in the way for little things like going to the airport, buying more than 4 days worth of groceries, etc. And if you are over 6'4", you won't really fit in either car comfortably (w/ or w/o a helmet)... Tnord and I can both vouch for that. Otherwise, both are really fun cars -- each with its own pros and cons.
I too now have a Miata and also just sold my 240 in Dec. But I only drive a few thousand miles/year (1/3 of which seems to be track-event related) and I have access to a 4 dr. sled for chores. For me, when practicality wasn't an issue, the Miata was the choice. Now, if practicality or autox classes or future racing enters the picture, the equation changes a lot.
