what is wonder foam
what is this stuff called wonder foam from select products. Just curious what it is used for as it is under the fiberglass section of their site.
also, if someone could explain what the chopper gun is also it would be greatly appreciated.
edit: and another question, is mold fabric the fiber material that is kinda like fleece that can be stretched and then epoxied and used as though it is fiber glass.

I know what a chopper gun is and I'll take a stab at the other stuff. A chopper gun takes and either cuts sheets of fiberglass then sprays them, or just sprays cut fiberglass.
I would guess that foam is like the foam used in potting plants (very very stiff stuff) that is used to make molds.

Chopper guns chop fiberglass mat and add resin at the same time(this gives a rough texture, like in a truck cap, THATS WERE IVE SEEN THEM USED MOSTLY. And yes, the foam is used to form parts and molds, things of that nature.
Sorry about the capitols.

The previous guys are right about the chop gun, it will mix resin with a fiber glass "rope" that it chops up and shoots. Great for building up thickness, or to pull a fiberglass piece from a mold. The foam is a special foam that wont react the the chemicals in the resin, so you can shave it into just about any shape and then glass it.

SWEET, that was what i was looking for. I was looking for a foam that wouldn't melt from resin so i could build an intake for my car. So that gun works almost like a spray gun but with globs of fiberglass.

eklipz: hey man just read u work at a fiberlass plant and i was wondering if u had any tips on making fiberglass fenders to sell? i work with ALOT of glass now so i figured id make a few molds and like 10-20 pairs of fenders depending on my income at the time. neways i was thinkin make the mold, reinforce with wood, use some mold release(i dont use this stuff any ideas what type to use?), then real thin gelcoat and 1 layer of cloth followed by a few layers of matte. this is going to be the first time i really sit down and make molds out of glass and all. normally we use cardboard or styrafoam behind the glass to give it shape.
