I got my production number!
Finally after 5 months of heartache....I HAVE FOUND MY PRODUCTION NUMBER!! My boss at Redshift used to work for Honda R&D and last night we were fooling around with the idea, and so he contacted some of his "connections" via e-mail with my vin number, and today while at work he surprised me with the answer... I am owner of 1997 Integra Type R number 511. Now some will argue about the higher number of the 97's but coming from Honda of Americas execs, I'm satisfied. On the listing, the last number is 510...until today. I (think I) have the last known 1997 R in America!!
I do however, regret to inform everyone else that I am unable to do the same for their lost number. I'm sorry, but this is way out of my doing , as I do not have the connections offered to me to find out and this was a gift to me for joining the Redshift team. (new job!)
So don't despair, someone, somewhere knows.....

True, but with their displayed enthusiasm to help, and my boss' standing at H of A, I doubt it. Plus the list is narrowing down, so the number is placed well with out error (also could be by chance). But it works for me.

ha ha... not a believer eh? Well, I'd be surprised if I wasn't given the correct number. but i suppose it's possible it's not the right one... anything is possible. I don't think they'd be jerkin' me around. These are friends of mine.
It'd be interesting to find the VIN number of the last known ITR of 97 that you can document, and if Hans' ITR VIN is higher than that one, it's reasonable to say the 511 is correct. If it's a lower VIN, then Charlie has some "splaining" to do.

how would that help? 318 units for the US in '97, but there are US ITRs that go as high as 0510? so the numbers are mixed together with Canadas? he's not saying he just found out he's got the 319th '97 ITR in the US
I knew both the original owner and the previous owner of 97 #510. ****, I used to look over the original owner when he was little. I used to have his vin copied down for possible theft recovery if I was in contact with any B18C5's in the area, but no luck, so I throw it away. My site won't download properly, but I do have contact info for #507 if he's not on this board to chime in.
Thanks,
Victor

I think it would be great if you did find out you Prod # but the way you presented the whole thing in your original post really made it sound like you kind of fabricated the story. More power to you if you really do have "The Last 97" but i wouldnt hold your breath on that.
First of funny guy, just because that letter states that there are 318 in America, it doesn't state that they are numbers 1 - 318. As you can see in the various registries, the numbers don't coincide.
I'm glad my post gave you suck joy, wow it's funny that something so little on an internet forum can do such a thing. yikes.
Again let me weigh out the possibility of it being false, some internet warrior that says so because of a letter he doesn't understand, or the guys in the know at Honda. hmmmm.
As Chris and Victor said, maybe someone with other higher, 500ish, numbers can chime in to me with their vin to see how close they are.

Obviously with Chris chiming in, you can see I did not fabricate the story. I'm also not really focused on it being the last 97, just more of an observation. I have looked for this number for some time, and it's a relief to find out from actual sources behind scene.

OK...
I posted something else after that and it was referring to the count & letter.
I was only saying that you can't believe chit these days.
I would not trust anything on the counts unless you make a thread like mine that counts all the Rs but then there are some that never take part on the national count either here or on ITRCA. So the true amount of R will never be known.
Example, when I bought my caR the dealer told me they only made 150 PY and 150 Black for 2001...
My last Vin are 23 and my car is 26- does not mean chit to me...
and HT did that a while back and could not make heads or tails.
Take it easy big boy or I'll get Opie after ya

No problem, it was just a little odd to see such a post after I posted so enthusiasticlly about finally getting what alot of R owners dream of. I understand that there is so much misinformation floating around, and it's ok if people don't want to believe me. I'm set with the info provided.
You're right, and unfortunately we won't ever really get a solid list, it should be mandatory when you purchase an ITR that you are entered into the registry.

yeah.. like do one more car that someone actually does know the number of.. that'd be pretty solid proof..
but doesn't really matter, grand scheme.. i believe him that it's #511, and I know he believes it..
congrats on getting your number!! that rocks!

</TD></TR></TABLE> Brutal, LOL. Keep that up and he'll want to jump off that bridge. If it was the last ITR in 97 it would probably help resale value... You get an 'E' for effort though
