I just want to run 9psi!
Long story short.. I have a 97 LS with 70k installed an fmax kit on it blew the motor in less than an hour. Resulting in cracked pistons and fryed rings. I see so many people on here run much more boost on stock motors. I'm on a budget so I don't really want to spend 2k on a built block when I could run a stock block and be just fine. What would you do?
there was fuel managment the MRL2 additional injector controller which operated (2) 440cc injectors into the intercooler piping (sprayed into the TB). It was spraying because it smelled like fuel in the pipe.

thought wrong buddy at 9psi you need to be at high teens.

burnng oil is a trigger for tired rings.

what would you recommend for fuel management, I have high flow walbro pump already? The thing is I was pooring out white smoke which is coolant it wasn't blue/black like oil. But when we ripped out the block the rings and piston were done. So from what I'm getting so far retard the timing with a mds btm and get a better fuel mangement. ps thanks for the help
im assuming you boosted the motor in good condition. was everything installed properly? if so, it could've been something minor. retarding timing, correct sparkplugs, poor fuel management... it all depends.
Very strange. I used the F-MAX kit on the same B18B over 2 years ago and 60k BOOSTEd with the same management, and it ran pretty well. We barely even retarded timing. Eventually we did move to a E-Manage setup, and 440cc injectors and even at 7psi w/ a 2.25" exhaust, pulled over 215whp...
I think there is something else he might not have been aware of in terms of his setup.

i was thinkin the same thing. he couldve missed something during the install.

probably in the install it was my first time installing and my 2 friends are honda tech's but they never installed a turbo either. We did have some exhaust leaks I remember. When you changed the the 440cc injectors how did you plug the intercooler piping? Did you guys use like a cooper gasket maker between the wastegate-manifold-downpipe is that recommended? Think I might just get a low mileage shortblock and find a shop in area ( not that many in NH) to install it. Can use an OBD1 block?

Exhaust leaks would have only caused slow spool. Why would you have to plug the intercooler piping for 440cc injectors? You can use copper spray on all those exhaust mating surfaces. There must have been something wrong with your engine or you messed up that injector install. Always make sure your engine is in it's best condition before putting a turbo on it. Compression test first, save money later.

Yeah... 93 octane in the tank right!? I swear, I don't know how so many people blow up their motors on the first time out... I've been running 10psi on my stock d16z6 / t3 setup for almost 20k miles... and she's still going strong...
Good luck!
Good luck!

Its an awesome ems and you wouldnt have to jump your ecu to obd1 (hondata).
