Cive
Have an 89' Civic 1.5 L engine TBI, auto trans.
A little less than half of the time, from a stop or near stop, when starting out, the engine will bog heavily, then as accelerator is depressed, it will continue to bog with very little acceleration until approximately 3/4 throttle or more(varies with RPM and throttle position), then will suddenly start accelerating very well.
Also, while sitting still, if I try to hold engine RPM at just under 2000, the RPM will oscillate from 1900 down to about 1200 then back to 1900 abruptly about once per second, if I try to hold at 1700 holds fine also if I try to hold at 2100 or higher it holds fine,,,at no time during these symptoms does the engine actually missfire.
The engine is in overall good shape(no smoking/noises) and recently had the fuel filter changed along with several servicable ignition components within the last year.
I suspect the throttle position indicator or possibly fuel pump,,
I will greatly appreciate any and all suggestions as to what to look for.
Thanks Very Much
