DC5-R IM question?
I have read that the Type R manifold offers a good increase in acceleration and horse power, but I am unsure on that. If any one can inlighten me on the gains performance wise if you are running it yourself. Also would there be any benefit to port and polishing a manifold? Thanks for the help -Shawn
I am sure there are gains from what you are talking about...But I think the factory ecu is the limiting device...Maybe somebody will chime in and enlighten us if there is real power from the "Basic" bolt ons and the ITR intake manifold...Good idea to have it cleaned up before you install it.
Well it doesn't really open up/create any hp. You may even lose a little down low, but what it does do is let the engine keep working efficiently over 8000 revs or so. At 8000 rpms the engine is semi-choking because the air can't get in there fast enough. I've been told the IM is really great with ITR or aftermarket cams.
Also i you have the Toda-A cam package, it will produce power all the way to 9,200, At least they what a couple of owners have reported....Without it the power would drop off at @8,600 With the ITR IM the power was good to 9,200
