Default Some questions regarding an A2 into an EP3...

I'm currently searching around for all information for a RSX-S motor to be swapped in my 03 Si. I have found that motors are going for roughly 3-4k w/o shipping. What I can't really find information on is where would I find places to do the swap for me...

I don't have the knowledge nor the tools to do such a swap and would probably hire someone to do it. I have been quoted up to $2000 to do this swap, so I was wondering if you guys could give me some average numbers to expect.

Also, if an experienced mechanic were to do the swap for me, how long would it take? A couple days? A couple hours?

Finally, I hear that modifying the shifter housing for the 6spd tranny is the hardest part of the install....is it really that hard?! What gears do I lose if I don't do the modification temporarily?

It is not much harder than swapping out the A3 for another A3. The hardest part is notching the shifter for the extra gear.

A good mechanic should be able to do it in 10-12 hrs. You would also need to rekey the immobilizer to the type-s ECU, or send your stock ECU/type-s ecu to Hondata to match them and flash the ECU program.

5 hours to be exact and Tom Payne no notching required in the shift mech. needed. Works fine....
