Default Engine removal

Who here has removed the engine out of their 91 civic? How hard was it to do? What would you recommend cleaning the engine with? Hoping to take it apart this summer and clean the engine, and paint the engine bay. Any input?

ive taken engines out. its not hard to do. just keep everything in separate zip lock bags. write clearly what it is and where you got it from. sometimes we forget what one bolt did compared to another. also, take pictures of the full engine bay. that way if you forget where something went or vacuum lines etc went you can just look at the pictures. have fun

Is there anyway you can get replacement bolt kits for hondas? there's a few rounded off and broken bolts on my engine.

blew mine up on sunday. we had it running by wednsday. pull it from the top if you can get a hoist. we pulled mine from the bottom and it sucked because u have to pull the front crossmember. but all in all, its not hard at all.

I do have an engine hoist and a engine stand so that shouldn't be a prob. What do you recommend for getting road grime off of the bay?

Don't forget to pull out the axles. That always helps.

Any kind of engine degreaser will work. Make sure you tape plastic bags on all of your harnesses in the engine bay. It won't hurt them much to get them wet, but better safe than sorry.

Take tons of pics for reference, so you know exactly how everything goes back together.
