Default Versus In-Car Video: Street Z06 vs. USTCC WRX

Here is another fun video I put together. It's side-by-side in-car video. On the left is a street 2001 Vette Z06 (with T1 suspension) driven by John Wurth. On the right is the USTCC Subaru WRX racecar. The left and right audio channels are for the left and right video streams, respectively.

Kind of depressing seeing what a daily driver Z06 can do compared to a USTCC legal race car.

Small size (14MB)

Large size (38MB - but worth it)

I wonder what would happen if we put the Z06 motor in the WRX.......hmmmm......

I wonder what the Z06 would've done with the extra 20 horses in a 2002-up model? I just wonder if it would've made much of a difference.

Very creative video editing.

Z06 = sway bars (pads/tires?)
WRX = tires?

Z06 = yummy....

One of my better students was in his dad's Z06 (sub 10,000 miles) at Watkins Glen. He and the car were quite amazing.

Dam that looks like SO MUCH FUN. I wish i could do that. Autocross just doesn't cut it, but it is the closet thing in comparision for me right now.

Nice videos.

Gary, what camera do you use in the WRX? I'm shopping for one and am always impressed with the quality of your shots.

Great video setup! I dig the side by side.

The ZO6 that I encountered at LRP was just amazing, I even got my dad a ride in one for a session- He got out and almost fell over in shock- I wish that was me

I'm using Sony TVR-140 digital 8 cameras. Kind of big compared to the DV cameras, but very inexpensive if you can find them. About $299 last time I checked.

One of the reasons the video looks so good is that the files are huge. I hate choppy video.

Same T1-prepped Z06 with the same driver, different (but nearby) track, different 4 banger, different results. The 4 banger is stock but for Hoosiers and a homemade wing, and happens to be my daily driver...

I am consistently amazed at the speed of the S2000 on track.

hmm, that s2k video doesnt work.

but anyways,
wow those cars are so close!
it is kinda of odd I have to say,
I mean that wrx car was obviously full blown race prepped..
rollcage and all.

you could definetely tell the z06's suspension was alot more "sloshy" though.

The Z06 is an amazing deal. It's pretty amazing what you can get for about 50k!
Cant wait to try the new C6 Z06.

Nice job with the video!

Nice car Gary...

I think there have been some turns for the better in UST this season. You should come out to a race and say hi, and check out your old machine.
