How many people garage their R for the winter
My roomate says a Type R isn't a nice enough car to store over the winter. Just wondering, how many actually put their car up for the winter and how many agree w/ the roomate?
Never see rain, and never see snow or salt and its 4 yrs old next month.
First snow of winter arrives, it is garaged till mid March.
Start her up once a week .
At my office, R is nickname "Weather Channel." Personnel knows is sunny day
with no rain in forecast when my R is parked at Pole Position space!

I store mine in the winter....I put it in a mine that lets people store cars in there....constant temperature of 60 and constant humidity of 60%....30 bucks a month....great deal IMO.
Why not drive it in rain? I think that is overkill.

I have a beater so keep the R clean always especially is FBP.
FBP sucks when spotted up and it was never my choice of color back in 00 when
my 97CWR were total. I can't stand PY so I want to make the best of it with FBP.

Ditto. Wanted CW and I really couldn't see myself driving Phairy Yellow.
Still, drive the damned thing. I almost feel sorry for all the people who signed up for Expo who are that fanatical about keeping their cars in pristine condition.

I am the roommate. The only reason I can think of to garage an R for the winter is because you just can't drive a car like that in the snow. The car itself is not so pristene that it should be kept out of the elements however (most cars arent). Snow is understandable, but rain, come on. These are not supercars, they are sport compacts that are meant to be enjoyed. Enjoy them!
Pansies... i drive mine year round, its a blast in the snow. Remember guys its just a $24,000 car, I dont even have a garage to keep mine in so it sees all the elements.

Same for mine...ask Edwin and BabyNSX, except mine's asleep from Thanksgiving until the end of MAY, and NEVER gets started during storage. Aaaaahhhh, life in the frigid North

Mine's garaged until late March/ early April. It just moved to NY with me from AZ. To me it IS a nice enough car to keep it off the crappy roads. My winter truck has enough rust holes in it... I don't want my R to even take the chance of getting that shitty.

Couldn't agree more. If I buy a car, no matter what it is, it's going to be driven and see all elements. It's amazing how some of you guys don't even drive it in the rain, like it's a freakin' 67 Stingray.
<-- who will be purchasing a 97 ITR that's never seen rain/snow.... that will change quick

No offense, but what would you know about a type R? You own a V-dubb, hardly a collectors car....not trying to be rude, but these cars are in two different categories....yours isn't a low production car....yours hasn't been considered the best handling FWD car ever made...

Easy guy! I came in with no hostility here. If you had paid attention to the thread you would have taken into account that my roomate has a type R. I have driven it, I know what they are all about. I don't need to hear the old "best handling fwd car in the world" statement. I know my cars, it handles amazing. Is this thread about handling? Nope. When did I call my GTI a collectors car? I made no reference to my GTI so what was the point of that statement? You don't have to defend your ITR to me!
Back to the actual topic here... As a few type R owners have already stated above, you drive a $24k sport compact so why baby it and only drive it half the year? You want to protect it from rust but by the time these things would actually be prone to rust out will be so long from now that you probably won't even have it anymore (don't say your not babying it to maintain its value so you can sell it).
