Default AEM Cold Air Induction System

Is it true that the AEM Cold Air Induction Intakes give like 15hp? and like 6whp or more on a GSR Integra motor? or the V2 intake?

You've got this turbo car and you're asking about the power from a cold air intake? I dont know how you couldnt know this already.

I think AEM has dyno plots of various setups on their website.

Hmmm....Modacar are the ones trying to sell you the intake....I would take what they say about it's performance with a grain of salt.

Just to let you know, tests have been done that show the 'cold air' benefits of long tube intakes are really quite minimal. While there is the oft-quoted claim of increased density of a cold air intake charge...what people fail to realize is that while your car is at speed, underhood air temperatures are no different from ambient temps.

Neouser over at Team Integra proved this with a couple of digital thermo's and a few runs down the street one night...a temp sensor was placed at the stock intake opening, and one on the outside of the car....results where that underhood temperatures in the area where a short ram, or the stock, intake would pick up air is no different than outside air. If underhood temps are the same as outside air, obviously the temp in the fenderwell where a long tube intake picks up its air would be no different. Thus one must attribute the gains seen by intakes such as the AEM CAI and other long tube intakes to the length, diameter, and design features of the intake rather than the supposed 'cold' air phenonmenon.

The two main things to look at with an intake are the length of the pipe and the sizing of it. Shorter, larger tube intakes generally will see performance gains in the higher RPM's, while long style intakes will see gains in the mid-range.

It's just an intake people....not a real big deal in the grand scheme of things, just get one that won't suck up too much dirt/debris, and that is properly sized for your engine goals and be done with it.

EDIT: well i can't post more than 5 posts in a 24 hour period (wtf?) so I'll respond to that comment a couple posts down here....

remember that on a cold day, the outside air is going to be that much colder, and people usually associate cold weather with 'gains' from their CAI. The flow of air through the engine compartment is also not going to be affected by the temperature of the outside air. The fact remains that I have seen with my own eyes pics of the test I mentioned above, if I recall the test was done at apx 60 deg temp. At any rate, I think it has been established that the increase from 'cold air' in a CAI is overstated by most people, whether or not it is cold, meduim, or hot outside, the underhood temps (at speed remember!) are not going to differ much from ambient. Regardless, it would be interesting to see a test done on a hot day.

On a hot day during the summer I can't see that being possible.

Thats cool. I wasnt trying to hate - I just figured you mustve been around the game for a while, and realize that really no intake is much different than the other.

Oh nah bruh its cool, when I first started off learnin about honda's I really didnt pay attention to CAI, I was mainly studying Forced Induction really, I didnt mean to sound harsh or anything... So my bad if I did... Does anyone know where I can find a good site that has Video's of GSR's being dyno'd?
