Default Ok to cut harnesses??

After 2 months of waiting on Sparco's back order I've gotten my harnesses in...finally.

Anyway, the lapbelts that I wanted (48" individual for use with a rollbar) are going to be backordered until at least mid-march. I have tried calling a number of vendors and they all tell me that they can't get me this lapbelt in black (which is the color that i need) for at least 6 weeks or so.

Well, I have been able to get the 75" H-style belts. The only difference in these is there is about 27" more harness at the end (they are intended to bolt to the floor i guess) and there is a strap connecting the two belts (so you can use it with seats without harness holes).

My question is this: Can I cut off the extra 2 feet of harness and burn the ends so it does not fray? I really cant see any problem with doing this as it wont affect any load bearing part of the harness, but I just wanted to confirm this with some people that may have a better mind for these types of things than myself.

sure can. thats what we did on my passanger side harness that was super long from running it w/o the rollbar (for autox only) and having it mounted way back. now that i have the rollbar, i had about 2 feet of access belt material. just make sure u burn the ends in a ventilated area cause it smells pritty bad.

Make sure the end you cut does not have the date tag on it. Without that, you might as well burn the whole harness, it's illegal for roadrace. Most that I've seen put the tag on the end too.

exactly what Sparco harness parts or full harness do you need?
Do you need SFI or FIA?
Normaly FIA is accepted by most racing bodies.
Do you know the part number you need?

I can only get you full pieces. Im sorry.

If you ever need a good price on a full harness FIA or SFI please look me up.

Again I'm sorry that I can't get you just peices. Well I could but it would not be a resonalbe price.

Thank you
